The five modes, honestly ranked by usefulness

  • Sentence case is the workhorse: it rescues text drafted in caps, headline generators' Title Case Output, and pasted-together fragments into normal prose.
  • Title case follows the editorial convention: small words (a, of, the, to, and their friends) stay lowercase unless they start the phrase. Use it for headlines and video titles, not captions.
  • Capitalized Case starts Every Word with a capital, small words included. Some brands want it; know that it reads as a style choice, not a rule.
  • UPPERCASE and lowercase do what they say, links excepted. Lowercase-everything is a legitimate voice on X; just commit to it.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between title case and sentence case?

Title case capitalizes the significant words (The State of the Art), keeping small connectors like of, the, and to lowercase unless they open the phrase. Sentence case capitalizes only the first word of each sentence, like normal prose. Headlines use either; social captions almost always read better in sentence case.

Why does this converter leave URLs, hashtags, and mentions alone?

Because case changes their meaning. Many URL paths are case-sensitive, so uppercasing a link can break it. A styled or re-cased @handle can point at a different account, and hashtag matching happens on the exact string. This tool converts your words and passes those tokens through untouched, which generic case converters get wrong.

How do I fix text that is stuck in ALL CAPS?

Paste it above and pick Sentence case: it lowercases everything and re-capitalizes the start of each sentence. One pass, and it survives links in the middle of sentences. Expect to re-capitalize proper nouns by hand, since no converter can know that 'max' was a name.

Should I post in all caps for emphasis?

A word or two, sometimes. Whole posts in caps read as shouting, are measurably harder to scan, and some screen readers spell out capitalized words letter by letter as if they were acronyms. If everything is emphasized, nothing is.

What is alternating case for?

The aLtErNaTiNg style is the sarcasm/mocking-meme register, popularized by the Mocking SpongeBob meme. It has exactly one job and this tool does it so you do not have to type it by hand.
