Invisible character

Copy a blank Unicode character with one tap: for empty lines that platforms delete, blank display names, and fields that refuse to stay empty.

Copies one braille blank character (U+2800). It renders as nothing but is real text, so paste it anywhere a platform demands "something".

Braille pattern blank U+2800The dependable one: keeps blank lines alive on Instagram, TikTok, and Pinterest, and passes most 'field cannot be empty' checks.
No-break space U+00A0Looks exactly like a space but does not collapse. Good inside a line; some apps still trim it at the ends.
Zero-width space U+200BTakes no visual width at all. Useful to break up a word without showing anything, or to defeat auto-linking.
Hangul filler U+3164A wide blank often used for 'empty' usernames and game names. The most likely to be rejected by strict fields.

Which one to pick

  • Blank line in a caption or bio: braille blank (U+2800). It is the one with the long track record on Instagram, TikTok, and Pinterest, which is why it is the default copy button.
  • A space that must not collapse or wrap: no-break space (U+00A0). It looks identical to a normal space, so use it inside a line, not at the ends where apps trim.
  • Nothing visible at all, zero width: zero-width space (U+200B). Handy for stopping an app from auto-linking a URL you want shown as plain text.
  • An "empty" display name: hangul filler (U+3164) is the classic, but it is also the most commonly blocked. If a name field rejects it, the braille blank usually passes.

Frequently asked questions

What is an invisible character?

A real Unicode character that renders as nothing, or as blank space. The most useful one for social apps is the braille pattern blank (U+2800): it looks empty but counts as content, so fields and lines that a platform would delete for being empty survive with it inside.

What do people use invisible characters for?

Keeping blank lines alive in Instagram and TikTok captions and bios, sending a 'blank' message where the app requires text, making display names that appear empty in games and chat apps, and adding separation inside fields that strip normal spaces.

Is using invisible characters allowed?

The characters themselves are ordinary Unicode, the same standard every app already supports, so pasting them is not a hack or an exploit. Individual apps can still reject them in specific fields (usernames especially), and impersonating an empty name to deceive people can break a platform's rules even though the character does not.

Why did my invisible character disappear when I pasted it?

Some inputs sanitize unusual characters, and some clipboard managers strip them in transit. Try the paste tester on this page first to confirm your clipboard still has it, then try a different character from the table: fields that reject the hangul filler often accept the braille blank.

Which invisible character is best for Instagram line breaks?

The braille pattern blank (U+2800), the default this tool copies. It has years of track record surviving Instagram's caption and bio processing. Our Instagram line break generator automates the whole job: it places one on every blank line of a caption for you.

The character is free. The spacing surviving every network is the product.

posthell publishes your posts with formatting intact to 15 networks, filling blank lines with this exact character where a network would strip them. Write it once with the spacing you meant.
