A med spa post can carry five hashtags on Instagram, no more: two or three for the treatment or the practitioner (#ChemicalPeel, #AestheticNurse), one for your city (#DallasMedSpa), and your clinic's name. Tag what you offer and who delivers it, never the result someone should expect.
The hashtags worth using for a med spa
The treatments you offer
Tag the treatment in the post, or the person giving it. Posts about what a first consult covers, or who is on your team, sit naturally under these.
Where you are
In the US clients say med spa; in the UK and Australia they say aesthetics clinic. Join your city to the word your clients would type.
The pattern: #[City]MedSpa or #[City]Aesthetics
- Dallas: #DallasMedSpa #DallasAesthetics
- London: #LondonAesthetics #LondonSkinClinic
- Vancouver: #VancouverMedSpa #VancouverAesthetics
Your own tag
Your clinic's name on every post gives someone weighing up a first appointment one place to see your room, your team and how you talk about treatments.
For example: #FernwayAesthetics
Five tags for one real post
The post: “From next month, every first-time client starts with a consult, then gets a few days to think before we book any treatment.”
What the post shows, where the business is, and its own name. Five tags, each one earning its place.
Tags to skip
- Injectable brand names. They are other companies' product names, and the rules on advertising prescription treatments differ by country and state. Check the advertising rules where you practise, and your regulator's guidance, before any injectable goes in a tag.
- #BeforeAndAfter, #Results, #FlawlessSkin. They promise an outcome not every client will get. Show the consult, the room or the team, and keep results out of the tags.
- #NoDowntime, #LunchtimeLift. Recovery differs by person and by treatment, so a tag promising none is a claim you can't make for everyone.
- #beauty, #skin, #glow. Product launches and makeup tutorials crowd these. Someone choosing a clinic in your city is looking for the treatment and the town.
Seasonal tags
- Autumn and winter (less sun, so peel season): #PeelSeason #ChemicalPeel
- Spring, ahead of wedding season: #BridalSkincare #WeddingPrep
- Mother's Day: #MothersDay #MothersDayGift
- December: #GiftIdeas #HolidayGiftGuide
Only on posts that are about that season. A Christmas tag on a plain Tuesday loaf is noise.
